Camping and Kayaking at the Sunshine Coast in Lund, BC

Thursday July 19, 2012 - Sunday July 22, 2012

Our destination on this long weekend is Lund, BC. Located on the Sunshine Coast.  From Chilliwach, BC to Lund, BC we had to take two ferry trips to get to our destination.  The ferries are very scenic and relaxing.  Totally different from the Staten Island, NY Ferries I am used to.
Rob and Me
After the first ferry we stopped and got some lunch and enjoyed eating it by the water.

James and Rob and I enjoyed out lunch at pier 17 by the water.
Here i am breaking the law or am I?? LOL
Whats wrong with this picture????
After lunch we made our way to the second ferry.
Very Scenic!! But pictures never do it justice.

Patricia Theatere is the oldest running movie theater in BC.
We were thinking about seeing The Dark Night there but waited to see it when we got back to Chilliwach where the theaters had better sound.
We made our way to the camp site.
Camp!!
Our camp site is located right by a marina with a few shops, a bakery, and a restaurant.
the sunsets are as always, very beautiful.

Nothing beats a great camp fire before bed!!
We have cereal at the camp site but we rather cinnamon rolls and other stuff ant Nancys Bakery by the camp site.  Now thats camping!!  LOL

James and Rob at Nancys Bakery.

On Friday we took a water taxi from camp to savary Island. We went to rent mopeds but they were all getting fixed. So we walked all over the place and had alot of fun. The Island has a couple of restaurants, art galleries, bike rentals and kayak rentals.
Riggers Restaurant
Savary General Store
Hiking started very well and fun but it got longer and longer.  Someone stopped and asked of we wanted a ride and we happily accepted.  So we hopped into the back of a truck  LOL

James and I laughed at one of Jack Handys quotes from Saturday Night live. It goes, " if ever you sleep inside an empty log and two guys come an seal up both ends of the log and throw you onto the back of a pick up truck, gee, i dont know what to tell ya."  LOL  ok any way  it was funny.  So our destinationwas to get lunch at what i was under the impresion was a good place to eat, called the Sand Box.
What way to the sand Box Cafe?
Here it is!!!
Had to laugh.  We walked all that way to this LOL  I had a $10.00 grilled cheese.

After lunch we got another ride back to where we atrted and hiked to a beach called, South Beach on the otherside of the Island.  Beutiful beach filled with drift wood and shelters people hafe made to block the wind and stay on the beach.

Here is one of the shelters I mentioned

After our nice day on the Island we came back to camp and ate at the Boardwalk Restaurant
James, Rob, and I getting ready to enjoy our dinner.
On Saturday, James and I spent the day doing Ocean Kayaking on a rough and windy day.  But we had a great time.

I had the yellow one.
We stopped for a break at this little beach where we were watching Eagles flying and actually was able to watch one dive down with legs extended and claws ready to grab a fish out of the water.  He flew up into the air fishless.  But that was a site to see.

For lunch we stopped at a little island to see if we could get some pictures of Eagles that were on top of the rocks  but they flew away. LOL  But we ate lunch and saw Star Fish.  I never saw Star Fish these colors.  On the East coast in NJ  I have only seen Tan Skinny ones.  I really enjoyed the day Kayaking.
Purple and Pink Star Fish
The day we left we decided not to have regular camping food, Cereal but to go to Nancys Bakery and eat there.  I had Eggs Bennidict.  It was so good.

This area on the Sunchine Coast called Lund is so beautiful!! I would definately love to come to this palce again. the people are so nice and pleasant and the food is awesome. Camping at its finest!! LOL

White Rock, BC and Moby Dick Fish and Chips

Sunday July 15, 2012

After Church a bunch of us decided to go to White Rock, BC and have Fish and Chips at a well known place called Mody Dick.  They have very good fish and chips.  First we walked by the coast and then onto the pier and made our way back to go eat, but not without first seeing and climbing the White Rock.  I have been having alot of fun with all my new Canadian friends and they are making sure I see everything.  Our trip to White Rock ended with seeing a rainbow as we left town.
